This is where the clay comes from, may also be where the pots are fired. 勹baozitou may indicate the hand which works the pottery or perhaps the kiln it is fired in. Originally a person holding clay working it into a pot, thus renzitou 人 on top followed by tool or clay 午 working the pot 凵 . 陶器 pottery tao2qi4

xia on the left is the ey 目 which has met disaster on the right 害hai. Hai is the image of a persons tong being cut off. Roof on top 宀 mouth below 口 tongue舌 being cut off 一 in the middle.
Mang 忙 heart on the left 忄xin coffin on the right 亡wang means busy, hurried. but
Blindly busy in other words working but pointlessly, puttering about.
