Clausewitz

Clausewitz was wrong: war, though a political instrument, is not the continuation of politics because in war compromise is always impossible, whereas compromise is the essence of politics. In a merely political clash people lose office to their contender, but in war, however fought, people kill and die. It is simply incorrect to equate war and the political and results in failure as can be seen from all of German military history since 1870, and in Japanese history too. One must read Clausewitz due to his influence but one must read him very critically due to his errors. See: 1918, see also, 1945.
