金 gold
石 stone 金石=metal and stone; i.e. hard durable things.
为 because, cause; powerful plow breaking up the earth as a symbol.
开 open: the lock of a gate or large door.
Absolute sincerity splits open even metal and stone i.e. where there is a will there is a way.
