道歉

 道歉 dao qian forgive me
Twinned sheaves of grain 禾 grasped by a hand 手 on the right form 兼 which represents the idea of both, grasped, harvest, on the left 歉

欠 means gaping hole of a mouth representing a lack, deficiency. Taken together they represent idea of a deficient harvest, harvest (right side), deficient (left side)
jian 兼 here is also a phonetic clue.
This character is one example of the fact that the six methods of forming a Chinese character can be mutually reinforcing, not contradicting or exclusive.

进来

进 the bird on the road symbolized the idea of going, to enter. later the bird form on the top right was simplified/standardize to 井 jing well, which is thus a phonetic clue but resembles somewhat the earlier ideograph. This illustrates how over time some of the pictographs and ideographs evolved into pictophonetic characters. The road on the left remains the idea of entering the sound clue is on the right.

来 was originally grain, which is or was the same sound as lai come so it was a loan or transfer character. This character was simplified / standardized to the present form which still looks like 米 mi rice. Everyone COMES to the table for rice or grain.
